French chain Côte Brasserie opened on Monday to a rousing reception.
Opening where the former Lloyds TSB used to be at 18 Broad Street, the 150-seater restaurant – with 30 of those outside – welcomed diners and curious residents alike.
Area manager Rebecca Tooth said: “We had our first customers come in at 8am for breakfast on the day we opened!
“We had a steady stream of people coming in throughout the day, lots of people have been in to have a look.
“We’ve had fabulous feedback from everyone so far. People have been phoning up really excited, it’s really promising.”
Bringing traditional French cuisine to town, including signature dishes of steak, lobster, and seasonal specialities, Ms Tooth said they were looking forward to the future.
She added: “We think we’re bringing something different to town. It’s tying in with the regeneration of Wokingham, and we’re really looking forward to the future.”
Providing 40 new jobs in the town, the restaurant is open seven days a week.
