UPDATE: Motorcyclist from Reading dies following car accident in Finchampstead

A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a car crash this morning.

Police were called by the ambulance service at 6.39am to reports of a collision between a silver Nissan Note and a black Yamaha motorcycle on the A327 Reading Road, Finchampstead, near to the clay pits.

The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old man from Reading, was taken to hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead on route.

The driver of the Nissan, a 33-year-old man from Hampshire, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.

The road remains closed in both directions while collision investigators examine the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
