The anchor food store on the redeveloped Elms Field site, in Wokingham, will be Sainsbury's.

An agenda for a meeting of Wokingham Borough Council's executive committee, which is due to meet next Thursday (May 30), reveals it will join Premier Inn as one of the cornerstones of the town's regeneration.

The report states under the subsection Letting Strategy and Tenants: "In order to limit risks the Council's approach to funding and managing the development sets out that each phase of the commercial development will only commence when the Council has secured enough pre-let tenants to ensure that the costs of each development phase can be covered.

"A major milestone in this approach was securing pre-let agreements with [Sainsbury's and] Premier Inn which ensure the ability to move forward with these early phases of development."
