The Princess, who attended schools in Windsor and Ascot, is the new Patron of Berkshire Community Foundation, which works with voluntary groups to tackle needs at the grassroots level in the Berkshire community.
Last year the Theale-based charity made more than 200 grants, distributing more than £730,000 to community projects such as Slough Furniture Project and Berkshire Autistic Society.
Foundation chairman Chris Barrett said: “We are extremely pleased that Princess Beatrice has chosen to become patron.
“We hope that through HRH’s patronage, we can highlight the work of community foundations and the often hidden needs that exist in counties such as Berkshire.”
Foundation CEO Andrew Middleton added: “It is an honour for the Foundation to have been chosen by The Princess and we hope the patronage will raise the profile of the excellent work that is done in the county.”
Princess Beatrice is patron of a number of charities and founded the Big Change Charitable Trust with six friends, which supports projects helping young people.
