TWO mainstays of the Sunninghill community have stepped down from their roles as newsagents after nearly three decades at the helm.

Rita and Stewart Pardesi owned and operated Sunninghill News in High Street for 28 years before calling it a day on Saturday.

Mrs Pardesi said: “We have fallen in love with the area and everyone has been so lovely. It is a lovely area to work in and we are going to miss everyone. We want to thank all of our customers for their support over the years – we have enjoyed every minute.”

Mrs Pardesi has chosen to retire while Mr Pardesi will continue to work. The couple have sold the shop but while its future is unclear, she added that it will not continue to run as a newsagents.

Their daughters, Reena and Nisha, both attended St Michael’s CofE Primary School in the village and then Charters School in Sunningdale.

Mrs Pardesi added: “We did not see ourselves being here 28 years at all.

“We love it here now and it has been a way of life for us after such a long time. It has been amazing and we want to say thank you to everyone.”
