Loddon Bridge park and ride closed over flood alert

COMMUTERS are being warned that the Loddon Bridge park and ride will be closed today and tomorrow after the Environment Agency issued a flood alert for the River Loddon.

The alert was issued for the lower River Loddon including Swallowfield, Arborfield, Shinfield, Barkham, Lower Earley, Sindlesham, Winnersh, Woodley, Hurst and Waltham St Lawrence.

In a message sent out to park and ride users, the council apologised for any inconvenience caused and added: "The Lower River Loddon is not as high as forecast but that there is an additional band of heavy rain scheduled for our region from around 7pm this evening. As a result of this information the flood alert for the Lower River Loddon is unlikely to be withdrawn until mid-day on Tuesday.

"Therefore the Loddon Bridge Park and Ride will remain closed on Tuesday with a re-opening of the site Wednesday, as long as the all clear has been received from the Environment Agency."
