Samuel Adams, 91, from Knightswood, had his funeral at Easthampstead Crematorium last Friday (October 12).
He was married to Iris for 65 years until she died two months ago and their son, Kelvin, said: "He was dedicated to mother and it was part and parcel of his being to look after her.
"He had suffered a pair of strokes but the truth is he died of a broken heart."
Mr Adams joined the RAF aged 23 in 1944 and, on his debut flight to Frankfurt, the Lancaster plane in which he was a crew member was regularly attacked by German aircraft.
