An Ascot man takes on charity cycle ride inspired by his brother

A LOVING brother completed an epic cycle ride in aid of a motor neurone disease (MND) charity after his brother was diagnosed with the condition.

Nick Georgeson, who lives in Gainsborough Drive, Ascot, and is a partner at Glenn Flegg – which has offices in Burnham, Langley and Slough – pedalled 100km in the London Nightrider for Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Mr Georgeson, who has already smashed his £1,000 target, said: “I had never heard of the disease before my brother, Peter, had it so I want to spread awareness.

“Peter was living in Hawaii and had been in America for 20 years when he was diagnosed. It’s a terrible disease – he is still alive but there is no cure so it’s a case of when, not if. He got his first diagnosis about three years ago and is in a wheelchair 24/7 now.”

The cycle ride earlier this month started at Alexandra Palace and ended in Crystal Palace taking in landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Abbey Road Studios and the Tower of London.

MND is a rare condition where parts of the nervous system become damaged causing progressive weakness usually with muscle wasting.

Mr Georgeson, 39, said: “It was a great cycle ride. It was supposed to be for the very confident and experienced cyclists and I signed up without even owning a bike. It was brilliant and luckily there were no near misses for me with other road users. It’s a big event there were hundreds of people doing it.” For more on MND visit www.nhs.uk/conditions/Motor-neurone-disease or to make a donation to Mr Georgeson’s cause visit www.justgiving.com/nickgeorgeson

Howdy! This article could not be written any better! Looking at this post reminds me of my previous roommate! He constantly kept preaching about this. I'll send this information to him. Fairly certain he's going to have a good read. Thanks for sharing! ddcbakeabdeecacd
