Councillor allowances should be subject to council tax-payer referendum.

Why should it take any more than a dozen competent councillors to oversee a place like Bracknell? Do we really need 42 of them - most of whom deliver very little beyond Tory lobby fodder and forming a queue to be the next mayor? And what about the husband and wife team who cream off over £40,000 at council taxpayers' expense? Or our esteemed council leader consuming £33 of food every week of the year that we seemingly pay for?

Roll on the next council election when we can kick them out.
