Alison Penfold, who works as a facilities co-ordinator at Arlington Square, in Bracknell, is facing the challenge of a lifetime as she prepares for a tandem skydive at Hinton Airfield in Northampton.
She is one of 10 people taking part, four who have rheumatoid arthritis themselves – including Alison, who contracted the symptoms following a serious shoulder injury and a broken hand last August – and six more who have a connection with the disease.
So far, more than £3,000 has been raised in sponsorship.
She said: “NRAS has been a mine of information since diagnosis and this challenge is for a very worthy cause. They helped me to understand RA, where most people don’t and that is why it is so important for me to raise funds to enable them to carry on the amazing work they do.
“To say I’m excited is a total understatement. I cannot wait to do this challenge.”
