Rose Street junction no longer needs to be closed after waterpipe found further up Broad Street

Broad Street leading to Rose Street will no longer be closed to traffic.

South East Water confirmed it no longer needs to close that section of Broad Street, as access to Rose Street can be maintained.

This means traffic can travel in a south easterly direction turning left onto Rose Street.

While the junction was not closed, when prep work began this morning contractors realised the water main was further into Broad Street than they anticipated, meaning they no longer needed to close the junction at all.

Access from Peach Street / Market Place will still be closed, and the diversion will be via A321 Denmark Street, A321 Wellington Road and A321 Station Road for the duration of the works.

South East Water confirmed they know the locations of their pipes.
