Residents honoured in New Year's awards

RESIDENTS in Sandhurst and Wokingham are celebrating after they were awarded MBEs in the New Year’s Honours.

Lynda Fairbrother, from Sandhurst, was awarded the gong for services to gymnastics.

She is the chairman of the women’s technical committee at British Gymnastics and has judged at three Olympic games.

Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Roswell, from Wokingham, was given the same honour for his charitable work in South East England. He is a trustee of the North Hampshire Medical Education Trust,

Wokingham Borough councillor Paul Swaddle, who represents Maiden Erlegh, was awarded an OBE for voluntary political service.

Cllr David Burbage, Leader of the Royal Borough, was awarded an MBE for services to local government.
