FIREFIGHTERS were called to a flat in Ascot after a tap had been left running.

A crew from Bracknell were called to the flat in Carbery Lane at about 6pm yesterday evening, where a tap had been left running with the plug left in. The owner had gone on holiday.

The firefighters were called after the water had started to drip into the flat below and may have damaged its ceiling.

They gained access to the flooded flat by climbing in through a window before turning off the tap and pulling the plug out.

The crew also laid towels down on the floor to soak up the water before leaving at about 7pm.
