The branch at McColls newsagents will be modernised to become more of an open-plan service, while customers will also be able to enjoy longer opening hours.
Post Office services will be available at the till alongside other retail transactions, instead of from a separate screened counter.
To allow works on the upgrade to take place, the Post Office section of the shop will be closed from Wednesday, July 16, from 5.30pm to Monday, July 21, at 1pm. During this time, the shop will remain open.
After the improvements, the new-look service will be open from Monday to Saturday, 6am-6pm, and Sunday from 7am-1pm – an extra 27 hours.
The Post Office’s area manager, Keith Long, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Ascot and we are confident this new, modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
During the closure, the nearest branches open will be in Kings Road, Sunninghill, and Silwood Road, Ascot.
