NURSES were honoured in a commemorative service when an Ascot care home took part in international nursing day.

St David’s Nursing Home in Ascot Priory, Priory Road, held the service on Monday [12], which gave an insight to the contribution that nurses have given over the years.

Both nurses at the care home and from across Ascot joined the service, which was followed by refreshments.

The 60 people who attended then got to share their own experiences of nursing with others, while some even opted to dress up as nurses from the Crimean War.

Stacey Barry, the care home’s administrator, said: “The day was absolutely fantastic and the weather was brilliant throughout.

“We had a choir too during the service which I thought were amazing and it was great to see so many nurses come together in one place to celebrate the day.”

Nurses were joined by the High Sheriff of Berkshire Christopher Khoo, who gave a speech congratulating and honouring the nurses, and Bracknell Town Council mayor Alvin Finch.
