A DANCE class for dementia sufferers has bagged a council grant after Royal Borough residents voted to support the community project.

The monthly Moves and Grooves dance class, held at King Edwards Hall in Ascot, was awarded £4,000 through the council’s neighbourhood budget scheme.

The class, run by charity Alzheimer’s Dementia Support, attracted 170 votes from residents to secure the cash sum.

David Jannetta, chairman of Alzheimer’s Dementia Support, added: “All the people with dementia and their carers who attend Moves & Grooves are constantly enthusing about our sessions, saying that this is something enjoyable and fun that they can still do together.”
