Four dancers from the Victoria Lyons School of Ballet in Ascot all earned distinctions – the highest possible grade – in their Royal Academy of Dance exams earlier this month.

The girls had to memorise 17 different dances for the exam and were marked on the technique of their performances, a variety of exam exercises, barre work (a dancer’s warm-up routine prior to their dance) and a solo finale comprising two separate styles of dance.

The dancers also finished their exam by dancing with their teacher. This allows the youngsters to add their own creative flair to the dance.

Vicki Lyons, manager of the ballet school, said: “These dancers are very talented but talent alone isn’t enough. It’s been their hard work and dedication to ballet that’s produced such excellent results. The dancers have been truly rewarded for their efforts.

“My main aim is to instill confidence in my students and most importantly, a love of dance! Congratulations to every one of them!”
