THE Ascot branch of the Inner Wheel celebrated the international organisation's 90th anniversary.
The club combined its 'local service day' with the national 'Wheels Project’ by hosting a bring and share lunch last Friday (January 10).
President Val Wetherell presented a cheque to guest speaker Elaine Temple of Berkshire East and South Bucks Women’s Aid (BESBWA), a charity supporting women, men and children affected by domestic abuse.
The Ascot Inner Wheel members donated numerous wheeled items, including a bike, a child’s toy car, a pushchair, and toys which will be used by the Slough Women’s Aid in their safe houses or sold to raise further funds through their retail shops.
Ascot Inner Wheel – which aims to promote friendship, encourage personal service and to foster international understanding – also donated domestic cleaning products and airline toilet bags restocked with fresh supplies for emergency use in the safe houses run by BESBWA, and office supplies. Rotarian and volunteer with Women’s Aid, John Morris, provided transport to the Slough offices.
